Ottawa, ON, March 14 – 17, 2024 This weekend marked a remarkable achievement for Manitoba and WAMMA NextGen at the 2024 Canadian Wrestling Championship in Ottawa. Nine out of ten athletes from Manitoba medaled, and half of them came in first place, securing a spot to represent Canada at the World Championship in Spain. Congratulations to Tehani Blais, Jordan Blais, Anaka Chartrand, Beau Chartrand, Loki Bigras, Jerin Coles, Kaura Coles, Niko Coles, Ryder, and Coner Church, who have not only represented our community with distinction but have also shown what dedication and hard work can achieve. Their participation in such a competitive event speaks volumes about their commitment to excellence. Special congratulations to the national champions and gold medalists: WAMMA NextGen coach Tehani Blais, Kaura Coles, Jerin Coles, Beau Chartrand, and Conor Church. Special mention goes to Niko Coles, who impressively clinched 3rd place. Jordan Blais delivered an outstanding performance, winning two very tough matches. Notably, one victory was against Yuel Kebrom from Saskatoon, who had previously defeated Jordan in December at the Matman competition. Jordan’s only loss of the day came against the second-place winner, before he had to withdraw from the tournament. The future is bright for wrestling in Manitoba
